Community groups and small businesses in the Horsham district can search for funding from Horsham District Council's website. The council have joined forces with GRANTnet to provide this free service to help users identify suitable funding for their activity or project, which can be accessed from www.horsham.gov.uk. To search, groups must register their details to obtain a user name and password. Once logged in, GRANTnet will provide an overview of potential funding sources. Volunteering England Opportunities for Volunteering Funding added 17.09.07
Run by the Department of Health, this scheme aims to enable local voluntary sector health and social care organisations to involve volunteers in their work on health promotion, health advocacy, supported volunteering, i.e. helping former drug addicts to volunteer, support for people with specific health problems, or befriending and support for people with specific health or social care needs. Social Inclusion Small Grants
Small grants for rural groups and organisations to address social exclusion within their local communities. The scheme, administered by Action in Rural Sussex, is aimed particularly at projects benefiting people who are excluded or at risk from exclusion including children and young people, older people, black and minority ethnic and disabled people. Chichester LSP Small Sparks Challenge
Small Sparks involves people in community groups or projects by creating small-scale community projects that benefit the neighbourhood such as organising a community treasure hunt, sew a banner for the local football team, mark walking trails, or organise a cleanup day in your local area, etc. Small Sparks will match in cash whatever you donate for eligible expenses, up to £150. This can be money, materials and/or volunteer labour. Proposals, on one side of an A4 sheet only, are reviewed and selected by the Small Sparks Steering Group coordinated by Chichester in Partnership. Scheme managed by The Conservation Foundation to enable people to make real improvements to where they live through the funding of small-scale local environmental, urban renewal and conservation projects. Plunkett Foundation - Rural Development Charity: Rural Shops
Start-up grants of up to £20,000 is available to enterprises that want to set up community-owned shops in rural areas.
