Voluntary & Community Sector Grants Programme added 8.9.08
Grants available from Chichester District council for not for profit organisations that contribute to the Council's aims for 'Inclusive and Cohesive Communities' and 'Enriched and Active Communities'. One-off grants of up to £1000 and grants of up to £2000 are available. Closing date for applications are 21st November 2008 and 6th February 2009A larger grants scheme is available which opens on 22nd September and closes on 21st November. Grassroots Grants added 8.9.08
This scheme runs until March 2011 and is aimed at very small local community groups. Sussex Community Foundation holds budgets for Brighton & Hove, East and West Sussex. It is for not for profit, voluntary or community groups who have been active in their local community for a year or more; have an average income over three years of less than £20,000 per year, taken as an average turnover for the last 3 financial years (or over the life of the group if less than three years old); work for the benefit of their local community; are led by volunteers; and have a written set of rules or constitution. Applications can be made for between £250 and £5,000. Groups can apply more than once until they have received a maximum of £5,000 in total. GlaxoSmithKline Community Health IMPACT Awards added 7.7.08
Awards run by GlaxoSmithKline and The King's Fund which is open to registered charities that are at least three years old, work in a health-related field in the UK, and with a total annual income of between £10,000 and £1 million. KPMG Foundation added 30.6.08
Foundation focusing on education and social projects for disadvantaged and under-privileged people, in particular children and young people to the age of 30 who, for primarily social reasons, have not fulfilled their educational potential. These include refugees, young offenders, children and young people who have been in care, and children and young people with dyslexia/literacy difficulties. For more details visit www.kpmg.co.uk

Drinkaware Trust grants added 17.6.08

Mind: Ecominds added 17.6.08
Mind has been announced as an award partner by the Big Lottery Fund and their Changing Spaces programme, to run an open grant scheme over the next five years to fund projects that integrate mental health service users into the community via the delivery of environmental projects. Football Foundation Grants added 17.6.08
Grant scheme available for projects that use football and sport to contribute to educational attainment to close the skills gap, tackle health inequalities and social exclusion, and ensure that supported projects increase participation and consider equality of access. They have a small grants scheme for projects aiming to increase participation, by both players and volunteers, in grass roots football, by supporting the costs associated with providing new activity. Prince's Trust - Community Cash Awards added 17.6.08
Grants of up to £5000 are available to help young people set up a project that will benefit their community, i.e. a basketball court, music studio, music club, sex education workshops in schools, youth advisory board or a local magazine. Anyone who is: aged 14-16, at school but struggling or aged 16-25 and unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week can apply. Woodward Charitable Trust added 17.6.08
Grants of between £100 and £10,000 are available for initiatives that deal with social and ethnic minority groups, families of offenders and ex-offenders, addiction, homelessness, and domestic violence. Beacon Radio Youth Volunteering Fund added 17.6.08
Beacon Radio has teamed up with youth volunteering charity "V" to offer funding for not-for-profit organisations such as registered charities, not-for-profit social enterprises, and legally constituted community and voluntary groups, to run creative, community-based projects in England that offer volunteering opportunities to young people aged16-25. Projects can be taster or short-term sessions that enable young people to get a flavour of volunteering and a sense of its potential value to themselves and their local community. UnLtd Sport Relief grants for young people added 29.4.08
UnLtd Sport Relief Awards provide up to £500 for 11-16 years olds to run a community project that: uses sport to bring communities together to resolve conflict and promote understanding; fosters peace building, understanding and respect amongst young people; encourages cross-cultural contact amongst young people; and promotes a sense of common belonging and cohesion amongst all groups. Possible examples of projects include engaging young people from different backgrounds by organising an indoor cricket mini world cup, a skateboarding competition aimed at reducing tensions between local groups or workshops in music and drama that explore different cultures. Applicants will need to have a project advisor who assists them with the application process and supports them with their project; this could be a teacher, youth worker parent etc. UnLtd also provide support to successful applicants and offer opportunities such as training and networking events. Connecting Communities Plus - Community Grants added 7.4.08
Grants are available to third sector organisations with an income of less than £50,000 a year, and which are run by volunteers or with one full time or two part time paid staff, to support projects that are designed to increase race equality and improve community cohesion. The fund aims to improve access and outcomes for ethnic minority communities related to education, employment, health, housing and the criminal justice system; increase confidence in public services; tackle racism and extremism; and promote a shared sense of belonging between communities. Foundation for Sports and the Arts added 7.4.08
Foundation which aims to increase active participation in sport and the arts, specially amongst young people and those with more ability than resources. The Foundation is keen to support a range of activities where there is clear beneficial impact across the community, with emphasis on encouraging active participation by young people. Funding is open to charitable and community groups wishing to undertake sports and arts projects (except professional football or horse racing). Legacy Trust UK added 7.1.08
Endowment trust promoting culture and sport among young people and communities. Grants are available for sport and wellbeing; knowledge and learning; and arts and culture. Projects are likely to encompass community sport, healthy living, wellbeing, education, learning and personal development, heritage, performing arts, creativity and community events and festivals. V Charity - 'Vinvolved' added 7.1.08
The charity 'V' has announced that it will invest more than £75 million over three years into a national programme aimed at getting young people involved in their communities. The Body Shop Foundation Local Community Grants Programme added 12.11.07
Formerly the West Sussex Grants Programme - will consider projects located around the Body Shop's Littlehampton offices that work directly to improve the environment and lives of local communities. National Sports Foundation Grants added 12.11.07
Government-led initiative designed to facilitate and encourage partnerships between private investors and community sports projects. There are three themes: 'Fit for Sport' investing in clubs, coaches and volunteers in local communities; '2012 kids' which aims to help more young people to take up sport; and 'Women into sport' which aims to increase female participation in sport. Funding is available to community sports organisations working to improve facilities and participation in their local area, as well as private organisations looking to invest in local communities. CapacityBuilders Improving Reach Programme added 12.11.07
Programme focusing on increasing access to high quality third sector support services that are appropriate to the needs of frontline organisations working in and with excluded communities; including BME communities, refugee and migrant communities, faith communities and isolated rural communities. The programme also aims to increase capacity and sustainability for smaller third sector providers

Social Fund added 23.10.07
Government scheme offering grants and interest-free loans to people on low income to help meet certain basic needs. Details can be obtained from the local Jobcentre Plus. Southern Water Trust Fund - help with water debt added 23.10.07
Registered charity set up to help families in crisis and financial difficulty across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. People in financial hardship who receive bills from Southern Water are eligible to apply. Its aims are to help families and individuals to budget and give them financial stability. Grant Funding available for Voluntary Organisations in Arun added 8.10.07
